TPA is a group of people only because the creators felt that if we could all get under a single umbrella and speak our message then there was more of a chance of being heard than if we all went our own route and spoke it. It’s about getting the message out there; it’s not and never will be about promoting ourselves.

BMX Ramp Painting-TPA President Supports Youth Artists
Toronto Police Association president Dave Wilson is seen in this video supporting the youth and their art work done on two sheets of 4′x8′ plywood that will be built into a BMX bike park ramp.
The BMX Bike Park is the labour of retired teacher and BMX enthusiast Michael Heaton. Over the summer of 2007, the BMX park has been available to the public to ride at the Wallace Emerson Community Centre, 1260 Dufferin St, Toronto.
BMX bike camps for youth have been successfully conducted over the summer, hosted by the City of Toronto Parks Forestry and Recreation. Two of the top BMX riders in Toronto were hired by the city of Toronto to teach the camps and mentor the youth at the park.
Toronto Crime Stoppers hosted events at the park that promoted bicycle safety, and promoted the reporting of all crimes to police and Crime Stoppers. An emphasis was placed on the registration of bicycles with police, and reporting shady pawn shops fencing stolen bicycles. Helmet safety was promoted by the Toronto Police Service Traffic Safety officers as well as www.thinkfirst.ca .
The painting of the ramps with legal graffiti art work is being organizwed and facilitated by the Toronto Crime Stoppers school police officer. One of the artists was recently chosen to receive a national youth award by the Governor General of Canada for her community building work through art. Another artist recently graduated from reputed art school OCAD in Toronto.
The park was also the venue for the 2007 International Bicycle Film Festival. For 4 days in November (21-25), 2007 the BMX bike park will be featured as a youth engagement project by the Argos Foundation Stop the Violence at the 2007 Grey Cup festivities at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
